Star Wars created a space in the movie and merchandising industry that all sorts of other people now occupy. A lot of fans seem to think that Star Wars should always be as popular as in the 80s or whenever the first film of a new trilogy comes out.

Im sure we will see Mark Hamil and other force ghost guiding her through it all. I am honestly surprised so many people are applauding her return after the general dislike for the sequels. Rey is just such a mediocre character in the whole of Star Wars that building the future of this franchise around her is an odd decision.

The sequels have a big problem with explaining far too little in favour of driving forwards to the next big action sequence. Rey is not as big of problem with these films as this. TFA should've been used as a way to explain a lot of backstory to what the heck has been going on in the Star Wars galaxy these last 30 years.

As a character, she simply wasn’t very well written in any of the movies and of course, since the movies have this giant tug-of-war between JJ Abrams and Ryan Johnson going on, her character ping pongs back-and-forth personality wise.
