Feb 12, 2015 · As you can see, it is a PDI-8 which was installed by the Verizon tech that did the coax connection at the ONT (and brought the cablecards) and is rated from 5 to 1675 MHz. Each port of an 8 way splitter introduces 12.5db of attenuation, so I have a total of 18.5db attenuation between my ONT and the TiVos (plus whatever the cable adds).

Oct 17, 2023 · Verizon Fios provides an ONT (an Optical Network Terminal) and a WIFI Router. They connect the Coaxial Cable from the ONT to your TiVo. They will provide a CableCARD for $10/mo. (The price for new customers.) You do need to contact Verizon about the cableCARDs since they can not be ordered on-line.

Apr 11, 2023 · Hmm, maybe Verizon is rolling out a policy of "no CableCARDs for accounts that don't already have them." Given that your Verizon TV box is connected via coaxial cable, that has to mean that you have the old-style ONT with coaxial output, so you're getting Fios TV via QAM (not the new IPTV version), all of which is to say that your set-up is compatible with CableCARD.

Aug 24, 2024 · Verizon is moving away from cable cards and offering streaming options to new customers. My brother just signed up for Verizon and there is no longer coax and cable box being offered. It's a streaming box. Do a Google search on the subject and there's a lot of discussion that supports Verizon moving away from their current system of cable card use.
