How does Liam Coen's last quarterback in Baker Mayfield think he will help Trevor Lawrence as the Jacksonville Jaguars' head coach?

The Liam Coen saga will go down as one of the best stories of the NFL offseason. After reportedly withdrawing from the Jacksonville Jaguars head coaching search to return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and sign a deal that would make him the highest-paid coordinator in NFL history,

Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has no hard feelings about Liam Coen's about-face, after Coen initially said he would return as the Bucs' offensive coordinator and then took the Jaguars' head-coaching job.

With a new head coach, the Jaguars are hoping Liam Coen can turn the franchise and his star quarterback around.

For newly hired Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen, this fall won’t be the first instance of him standing on the sidelines as quarterback Trevor Lawrence plays a game. Back in 2014, Coen saw Lawrence play live as the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes hosted the Buford Wolves in the 4A Georgia High School Association Football State Semifinals.

After a long and winding path, Liam Coen is the new head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.  As with all first-time head coaches, it’s impossible to know how Coen will handle the expanded responsibilities of running an entire football team.

A top priority for new Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach Liam Coen will be maximizing Trevor Lawrence’s sky-high abilities at the quarterback position. We all know this, and when thinking about how Coen might go about doing that, the passing game concepts, play designs, and giving Lawrence the autonomy to change plays may all come to mind first.

With the hiring of Coen, the Jaguars did right by quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence is not the only player the team needs to take into consideration when they make drastic changes, but as the franchise quarterback he is the one who the team will look to as a guiding light more often than not.
