Bodycam footage from a Florida police officer shows a Kentucky Powerball winner was tased and tackled during his arrest in April.
The celebration didn’t last long for James Farthing, a Kentucky man who had just won a $167 million Powerball jackpot — days later, he was face-down on a Florida resort floor, bleeding and under arrest after allegedly kicking a sheriff’s deputy in the face during a violent altercation.
As seen on video, the winner of a Powerball jackpot kicked a man as a deputy was detaining that individual, and though it is not entirely clear from the vantage point of the bodycam, the deputy claimed that the kicker struck him in the face.
From millions of dollars to one spectacular downfall, the winner of the largest KY Powerball jackpot in history was arrested just days later. Newly-released body camera footage shows the incident.
Video released by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in west-central Florida this week shows the moment a Kentucky man -- who had split $167 million Powerball winnings with his mother days before -- allegedly kicked a deputy during an altercation.
On the evening after appearing at the lottery winner's press conference, James Farthing, 50, got into an altercation with a man at the TradeWinds Resort in St Pete Beach, Florida, and allegedly punched him in the face.
