Indiana University Bloomington has said it will suspend or eliminate over 100 academic programs ahead of the 2026-27 school year—part of sweeping changes to public higher education across the state. The changes,

Indiana University and Purdue University are cutting or consolidating 249 and 83 degree programs, respectively, due to a new law that requires universities to eliminate or consolidate programs if they have low enrollment.

Ahead of a new law setting a minimum number of graduates for low-enrolled programs, institutions have vowed to cut or merge more than 400 undergraduate and graduate degrees.
