It sounds as though Gov. Gavin Newsom is just as confused as the rest of the world over the logistics behind President Donald Trump's proposed 100% tariff on foreign films -- but he isn't about to let that interfere with his plans for Hollywood.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom reached out to the Trump administration on Monday with hopes that the two can pair up and create a $7.5 billion federal film tax credit to help out the movie business.

Gavin Newsom (D) is offering to partner with the Trump administration to create a federal film tax credit program worth at least $7.5 billion to boost domestic film production, his office said late Monday.
