KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — An overnight Russian missile and drone bombardment of Ukraine killed 15 people and injured 156, local officials said Tuesday, with the main barrage demolishing a nine-story Kyiv apartment building in the deadliest attack on the capital this year.
"It’s crucial to have $40 billion annually in budgetary support for Ukraine – to ensure our resilience and the ability of our country to carry on. This should be a joint decision by G7 leaders, including the U.S," he said.
A massive overnight Russian strike on Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital, killed 14 people and wounded at least 177 others, Ukrainian officials said.
Volodymyr Zelensky arrived at the G7 in Canada on Tuesday seeking more backing for the war against Russia – hours after a night-time missile and drone bombardment killed at least 15 people in Kyiv and Odesa and injured 131 others while they slept in their homes.
The attacks was one of the largest on Ukraine's capital in months. It came as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy prepared for the G7 summit in Canada, where he is pushing for stronger sanctions on Russia.
