The report noted that the stomach of the dog that belonged to Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa was mostly empty except for small amounts of hair and bile.

Gene Hackman, 95, died of cardiovascular and Alzheimer's disease likely around Feb. 18, about one week after his wife, officials said.

The deceased dog was found in the home with the bodies of the actor and his wife, Betsy Arakawa. The couple’s two other dogs had survived.
