Flooding could occur in parts of central Ohio with extreme heat likely to follow for much of the area south of Columbus.

The main threat here will be heavy downpours and gusty winds. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s to 90, with a heat index close to 100.

As of 12:30 p.m., heavy rain had already started to fall in some parts. A flash flood warning was in effect for DuPage and Cook County, the NWS said, with reports of "totally submerged viaducts and underpasses in the city of Chicago."
