Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz on Thursday proposed offering residents the right to resettle in any country that will have them after U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to take over Gaza and relocate Palestinians.

The plan has been rejected by Palestinians and much of the global community as a violation of international law.

He says the military should prepare exit options by land, sea and air so that anyone who wishes to can leave for "any country willing to accept them."

Israel Katz said Gazans should have "freedom of movement and migration" and countries critical of Israel's war with Hamas were "obligated" to take them in. Trump meanwhile said Gaza would be "turned over" to the US by Israel "at the conclusion of fighting".
