There is one catch to the Perseid meteor shower this year, the peak is close to August's full moon on Aug. 9, which means the moon will offer a significant amount of light making it more difficult to spot shooting stars. To see the meteor shower, the best time to look to the sky is after midnight. They could appear from any direction.

The annual Perseid meteor shower will peak next week, dazzling Texas skies with shooting stars. The meteor shower, which has been active since July 17, will peak the night of Aug. 12 into the early hours of Aug. 13, according to NASA.

The Southern Delta Aquarids and Alpha Capricornids are not the best showers of the summer, but they reach their peak on the same night.
