A group representing many of the hostages’ families has said the Israeli security cabinet’s plan to take control of Gaza City could further endanger their loved ones.

The families of the Israeli hostages held by Hamas are calling for a nationwide strike to prevent the government’s proposed military occupation of Gaza.

International condemnation grew Saturday over Israel's decision for a military takeover of Gaza City, while little appeared to change immediately on the ground in the territory shattered by 22 months of war.
