New Amtrak Acela trains launched along the Northeast Corridor Thursday, servicing cities from Boston to Washington, D.C.

The new Acela trains were built in the U.S. at Alstom's Hornell, New York facility and include components from 180 suppliers in 29 states.

The next-generation trains, part of a $2.45 billion upgrade, can reach 160 miles an hour but are limited by the railroad’s aging infrastructure.
