Those who take tirzepatide, the drug sold as Zepbound and Mounjaro, could lose more weight than those who take semaglutide, known as Ozempic and Wegovy, according to new research.

A study of two blockbuster weight-loss drugs showed that users of Eli Lilly’s Zepbound lost just over 2 inches more off their waists compared with Novo Nordisk’s rival Wegovy. At 72 weeks, participants using Zepbound saw an average weight-loss reduction of 20.

Tirzepatide (Zepbound) came out on top against semaglutide (Wegovy) for treating obesity in the head-to-head SURMOUNT-5 trial.
