After a runner-up finish in the FedEx St. Jude Championship, where he lost in a playoff, J.J. Spaun became an automatic qualifier for the U.S. side, an unlikely rise after starting the 2025 season outside the Official World Golf Ranking top 100. He's now up to No. 6.

U.S. Open winner J.J. Spaun and two-time major champion Xander Schauffele will join world No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler on the U.S. team when it takes on Europe in next month's Ryder Cup.

Three of the six automatic qualifying spots for the U.S. Ryder Cup team have now been filled, with J.J. Spaun and Xander Schauffele joining Scottie Scheffler on captain Keegan Bradley's roster.
