Medtronic said on Tuesday it would add two new directors to its board and set up committees to help boost its underperforming shares, after activist investor Elliott Investment Management became one of its largest shareholders.

Medtronic announced Tuesday that veteran med-tech executives John Groetelaars and Bill Jellison are joining its board as independent directors, confirming an earlier report by The Wall Street Journal.
