Hulu and Disney+ will be combined into one app starting next year, Disney says
Walt Disney Co. is integrating Hulu and Disney+ into one app, the entertainment company announced Wednesday. During an earnings call, CEO Bob Iger said Disney would combine the two streaming services to create a "unified app experience" that will feature entertainment, news and sports.
Disney said it is "fully integrating" the Hulu service, which it now owns 100%, into its flagship Disney+ streamer.
Approximately two months ago, Disney closed a deal with Comcast, the parent company of NBCUniversal, that sealed Hulu’s fate.
In 2023 Disney announced it intended to buy Comcast's 33% stake in Hulu. At the time, Disney paid $8.6 billion, which reflected Hulu's guaranteed minimum value of $27.5 billion.
