About 150 people gathered Monday afternoon at the International Skating Center of Connecticut for a national moment of silence for the figure skaters, coaches and families who were killed in the American Airlines plane crash last Wednesday night in Washington,

Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, Russian figure skaters and former coaches in Connecticut, are two of the victims in the Jan. 29 plane crash.

The International Skating Center of Connecticut will observe five minutes of silence Monday in memory of skating coaches Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov.

At 3:35 p.m. Monday, skating rinks across the country, including in West Hartford and Simsbury, held a simultaneous five-minute moment of silence for the 64 victims on American Airlines Flight 5342 and three on the Army Blackhawk helicopter.

Connecticut's ice skating community remembered two coaches at the ice rink they coached at in Simsbury. Figure skating coaches Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov were among the dozens who died in the mid-air collision near Reagan Airport.
