Ahead of primary day on June 17, Virginia's lieutenant governor contenders share their experience, legislative priorities and goals, in their own words

Tuesday is primary day in Virginia. Voters will choose Democratic nominees for lieutenant governor and attorney general as well as some legislative candidates for both parties.

Virginia Democrats will settle a crowded six-way primary for lieutenant governor on Tuesday as well as a contested nomination fight for state attorney general.

With seven contenders vying to become Virginia’s next lieutenant governor, the Mercury asked all the hopefuls to answer a questionnaire covering their political and legislative experiences and their positions on policy that shapes citizens’ lives.

West Virginia has been busy building the future through the 2026 class. Earlier today, they gained commitments from offensive lineman Camden Goforth and wide receiver Robert Stith, and just moments ago picked up a new commitment from junior college safety Aaron Edwards.
