The Texas Longhorns will need freshman guard Tre Johnson to step up big once again if they want to secure an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament.

Tre Johnson made the go-ahead 3-pointer with 2:08 left in the second overtime and the Texas Longhorns extended their first visit to the Southeastern Conference Tournament by beating old foe No. 14 Texas A&M 94-88 on Thursday to reach the quarterfinals.

Heading into Tuesday’s action, On3’s James Fletcher had Texas as the first team out of the NCAA Tournament. Getting a win against Vanderbilt on Wednesday was a must but a follow-up was needed against an in-state rival.
