Severe thunderstorm, flash flood warnings expire for Maui but gusty winds remain

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A severe thunderstorm warning and flash flood warning are in effect for Maui as heavy rain and thunderstorms drench the island. The severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 5:30 a.m. Friday. The flash flood warning is also in effect until 7:30 a.m. Friday.

Roads in several locations may be closed due to runoff, and landslides are possible in steep terrain. Some areas that will experience flash flooding include Kahului, Kihei, Lahaina, Kula, Pukalani, Makawao, Keokea, Haliimaile, Paia, Puunene, Haiku-Pauwela, Wailea, Pauwela, Maalaea, Huelo, Ulupalakua, Makena, Waikapu, Wailuku and Waiehu.
