SpaceX's Fram2 astronauts are sharing incredible views from the first human spaceflight to orbit Earth's poles, as their mission nears a conclusion.

A Falcon 9 rocket lifted off on Monday night, sending four amateur astronauts on an unprecedented journey around Earth’s poles. The mission is traveling where no crew has gone before, and SpaceX just revealed the first views of the planet’s chilly polar regions from above.

Chun Wang, a Chinese-born crypto entrepreneur, paid an undisclosed amount for the mission. Some satellites are already in polar orbit, and researchers called it a routine flight.

All of the human spaceflights that preceded the Fram2 mission have orbited the Earth from west to east. This flight, aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft, is the first to follow a 90-degree inclination.
