Buescher's third-place finish, combined with a win in stage one, proved to be an 11-point swing in his favor in the battle for the final spot in the NASCAR playoffs. Buescher has now built his advantage over RFK Racing teammate Ryan Preece to 34 points with two races to go, as Preece wound up finishing 13th.

Shane van Gisbergen eclipsed Jimmie Johnson and Tony Stewart as the all-time winningest NASCAR Cup Series rookie with his fourth victory in a dominant win in Sunday's Go Bowling at The Glen at Watkins Glen International.

While not a traditional rookie when his Australian Supercars Championship titles and 2023 NASCAR Chicago win are taken into consideration, Van Gisbergen is still in his rookie campaign. His fourth win of the year breaks a record set by Tony Stewart in 1999 and equalled by Jimmie Johnson in 2002.
