Madison police are looking for a man who stabbed someone just before 2 p.m. Saturday on the 500 block of State Street.

The Madison Police Department is investigating a stabbing in the city’s downtown area just before 2 p.m. on Saturday. University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department sent out an alert through the BadgerSAFE app telling students to avoid the area.

Officers were called to the 500-block of State Street. A spokesperson for the Madison Police Department confirmed to 27 News an investigation was underway for a weapons violation involving a knife but declined to elaborate.
