New Orleans Mayor Latoya Cantrell is facing federal wire fraud and conspiracy charges after being indicted this week along with a former member of her security detail.

Mayor LaToya Cantrell is now the second New Orleans mayor to face criminal charges, after a federal indictment landed Friday, and the first to do so while in office.

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell has been indicted on federal charges connected to an alleged ‘intimate’ years-long relationship she had with a bodyguard, which prosecutors claim cost the city $70,000 in travel during domestic and international trips.
