Norway’s Casper Ruud won his first Masters 1000 title on Sunday, as he stormed to a 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 victory over fifth seed Jack Draper in the Madrid Open final with a gutsy performance that showcased his claycourt mettle.

Casper Ruud became the first Norwegian to win a Masters 1000 title after beating Jack Draper 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 in the Madrid Open final on Sunday.

In the presence of Brazilian football legend Ronaldo and Atletico Madrid and Norway striker Alexander Sorloth, Ruud became a Masters champion for the first time - having lost his first two finals at the 2022 Miami Open and last year's Monte-Carlo Masters - and took home a 13th ATP Tour title overall.
