The U.S. Dollar edged a little higher in Monday afternoon trade after falling sharply against its Taiwan counterpart throughout the weekend.  The greenback was last up 0.09% to $99.95.  The Taiwan dollar (TWD:USD)  jumped 8% against the U.

The dollar slipped anew on Monday as a meteoric surge in its Taiwanese counterpart stoked speculation some Asian countries were prepared to engineer revaluations of their currencies to win U.S. trade concessions.

The New Taiwan dollar (NTD) surged to a two-year high against the US dollar on May 5, 2025, briefly strengthening by more than NT$0.15 to reach NT$29.59 per USD—the strongest single-day gain in nearly four decades.
