An unprovoked Hamas attack on Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) workers left at least eight people dead and many others injured, as the U.S.-backed organization fears some team members may have been taken hostage.

The militia, led by Yasser Abu Shabab, said its fighters had attacked Hamas and killed five militants but made no mention of its own casualties.

Gaza's Health Ministry says that since then, 163 Palestinians had been killed and over 1,000 wounded trying to obtain the food boxes.
