Israel's Leviathan natural gas field has signed the largest export agreement in the country's history, worth up to $35 billion to supply gas to Egypt, NewMed , one of the partners in the field, said on Thursday.

The companies operating Israel’s biggest gas field agreed to supply fuel worth $35 billion to Egypt over the next decade and a half, the latest sign of the North African country’s dependence on imports for the long haul.

NewMed Energy has finalized a $35 billion agreement to supply natural gas from Israel's Leviathan field to Egypt until 2040, reinforcing Egypt's energy hub status and enabling significant field expansion.
